TxOGA President Rob Looney Endorses Gov. Perry for Re-election

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has received the endorsement of Rob Looney, president of the Texas Oil and Gas Association (TxOGA).

“Gov. Perry’s dedication to strengthening the energy industry in Texas has been instrumental in maintaining the forward momentum of our state’s economy,” said Looney. “Texas needs his continued leadership, especially in efforts to combat potentially crippling cap-and-trade legislation threatened by Washington. I am proud to endorse Rick Perry for re-election and I am certain that our state, and the oil and gas industry in particular, will continue to thrive under his guidance in years to come.”

As president of TxOGA for more than 20 years, Rob Looney has been committed to championing the interests of the Texas oil and gas industry, which is responsible for producing more than one-fifth of the nation’s crude oil, refining more than a quarter of the nation’s gasoline and generating more than a quarter of the nation’s natural gas.

“I am thankful for Rob’s leadership in our state’s oil and gas industry and honored to have his support in this election,” said Gov. Perry. “The oil and gas industry plays an essential role in the mix of our ever-growing and diversifying energy industry, and I am committed to ensuring that its stakeholders have the tools they need to compete and thrive. Recently proposed federal cap-and-trade legislation has been particularly disturbing and threatens to devastate our state’s economy if approved. I will continue doing all in my power to ensure that such a proposal never passes.”
