Texas Pharmacy Business Council Endorses Gov. Perry for Re-Election

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today received the endorsement of the Texas Pharmacy Business Council (TPBC) for re-election in 2010.

“Gov. Perry has a clear record of ensuring patient access to community pharmacies,” said TPBC Chair Bruce Rogers, RPh of Victoria. “As state representative, lieutenant governor, and governor, Rick Perry has demonstrated his understanding of the important role community pharmacists play in the delivery of quality health care. His commitment to fostering a strong business climate in Texas has provided incredible opportunities for our state, keeping us strong through the sluggish national economy. Texas has made considerable achievements with Rick Perry as our governor and the Texas Pharmacy Business Council is proud to support him in his ongoing effort to lead our state.”

TPBC is a collaboration of American Pharmacies and the Academy of Independent Pharmacists-Texas. It represents more than 1,700 independent pharmacists and small business owners who employ more than 19,000 Texans across the state. TPBC is dedicated to ensuring access to quality pharmacy services, upholding the viability of community pharmacy and preserving the independent pharmacy profession.

“In Texas, we’ve worked hard to minimize taxes where possible and streamline regulations to ensure that entrepreneurs and business owners are free to succeed in the marketplace,” said Gov. Perry. “I’m proud of what Texas Pharmacy Business Council members do here in Texas to provide greater access to health care, especially in our rural regions. These folks represent the face of small business in Texas.
