Continues Support Through General Election
AUSTIN – The Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) today endorsed Gov. Rick Perry in the 2010 general election.
“TMPA is proud to continue its support of Gov. Rick Perry’s bid for re-election,” said TMPA president Eddie Wilkerson. “Gov. Perry has effectively worked with law enforcement to ensure that Texas is a safe and secure place to live and work. We look forward to his return to the governor’s office.”
TMPA represents more than 16,000 Texas peace officers from all around the state and from all types of agencies. TMPA, formed in 1950, acts as the voice for Texas law enforcement in the State Legislature and actively seeks to promote the mission of “Professionalism in Texas law enforcement through education and representation.”
“The work of the folks at TMPA is essential to maintaining the strength and security of our state and I am honored to receive their endorsement,” said Gov. Perry. “I am always proud to champion the concerns of those who protect our citizens, and grateful for the sacrifice and dedication that Texas peace officers display on a daily basis. I look forward to continue working with Texas law enforcement to ensure they have the tools they need to keep our citizens and communities safe.”
