AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today received the endorsement of the Texas Department of Public Safety Officers Association (DPSOA) PAC for re-election in 2010.
“Gov. Perry has been a longtime champion of working to secure the resources that DPS needs to fulfill its mission and the tools its officers need to do their jobs,” said DPSOA-PAC President Brian Hawthorne. “Texas is a safer more secure state with his leadership and he is the person that our state needs moving forward. Our members deeply appreciate his work to make Texas a better place and we are proud to offer our endorsement in his re-election campaign.”
DPSOA is committed to promoting excellence in law enforcement through its support of the Texas law enforcement community. Established in 1974, DPSOA is one of the largest organizations of commissioned law enforcement officers in Texas and works closely with the Department of Public Safety Administration and the Texas Legislature to promote the general welfare of Texas law enforcement officers, department personnel, their families and communities.
“Texas law enforcement officers place themselves on the front lines every day to keep our communities and families safe, often at great personal risk and sacrifice,” said Gov. Perry. “The DPS Officers Association plays an integral role in efforts to honor these officers and provide them tools they need to effectively protect our communities. I am honored to receive their endorsement and look forward to working alongside them to support the needs of our state’s protectors.”
