Gov. Perry Welcomes Hardin County Officials to Republican Party

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today sent a letter to seven Hardin County elected officials welcoming them into the Republican Party. The officials today announced their switch from the Democratic Party at a press conference the Hardin County Courthouse in Kountze.

In a letter to the elected officials, Gov. Perry said, “Our state and nation are facing challenging times, and now more than ever it is vital that elected officials stand up for their values and beliefs as you have so boldly done. By acknowledging that you no longer wish to be part of an increasingly liberal Democratic Party, you send a message to other Texans that the Republican Party will continue to lead our state because of its belief in personal liberty, fiscal restraint, and limited government.”

The following Hardin County officials today joined the Texas Republican Party:
County Judge Bill Caraway
Sheriff Ed Cain
County Attorney Rebecca Walton
Precinct 4 Commissioner Bobby Franklin
Justice of the Peace Precint 4 Kent Walker
Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 Butch Cummings
Constable Precinct 5 Wayne McDaniel, Jr.
