Former Texas GOP Chair Susan Weddington Endorses Gov. Perry for Re-election

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today received the endorsement of former Texas Republican Party Chair Susan Weddington.

“Gov. Perry is the leader Texas needs to continue its positive momentum in the years to come and I am proud to offer him my endorsement,” said Weddington. “From his leadership in championing tort reform to his success in upholding low taxes and limited government, Gov. Perry has built the strong foundation our state needs to thrive now and well into the future. His continued leadership is paramount to maintaining this strength.”

Weddington served as chair of the Texas Republican Party from 1997 to 2004 and was the first woman to chair a major state party in Texas. She formerly served as president of the OneStar Foundation, a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to increasing the impact and effectiveness of Texas civil society through greater promotion and support of volunteerism, stronger collaborations and partnerships, and healthier non-profit organizations.

"Susan has been a dedicated leader and strong voice in the mission to foster the conservative values that are essential to maintaining our state’s outstanding quality of life and climate of opportunity,” said Gov.
