AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today received the endorsement of Tony Perkins, Chairman of Family Research Council (FRC) Action PAC, for re-election in 2010.
“Texas has proven that the path to success and opportunity begins with a commitment to conservatism,” said Perkins. “Gov. Perry’s leadership has formed a model for the rest of the nation to emulate as leaders look for ways to bring our nation out of the national economic recession. His defense of conservative, pro-family values will ensure that Texans maintain an outstanding quality of life for years to come and I am proud to offer him my support in his campaign.
Tony Perkins is president of the Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council. He is a former member of the Louisiana legislature where he served for eight years. Through his work with FRC, Perkins has led the way in defending religious freedom in the public square, protecting the unborn and their mothers, defending and strengthening one man/one woman marriage and promoting pro-family public policy.
“Our nation is fortunate to have conservative defenders like Tony working to get our country to return to the principles our nation was founded upon,” said Gov. Perry. “I’m honored to have Tony’s endorsement and proud to be a fellow advocate in the effort to halt the federal government’s intrusions into our lives, put a stop to out-of-control spending, and restore our commitment to a shared set of values. I’m confident that our ongoing fight on these fronts will ensure a promising future for all Texans.”
