Associated Security Services and Investigators of the State of Texas Endorses Gov. Perry for Re-election

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today received the endorsement of the Associated Security Services and Investigators of the State of Texas (ASSIST) in the 2010 general election.

“ASSIST is proud to endorse Gov. Perry in his bid for re-election and thankful for his dedicated work to make Texans safer through disaster and emergency response planning,” said Bob Burt, State President of ASSIST. “Gov. Perry understands the valuable partnership between public and private law enforcement, and his efforts have helped add thousands of eyes and ears in the effort to keep Texans safe at no additional cost to taxpayers.”

ASSIST is a non-profit organization comprised of private professional security companies across the state and the largest organization representing private security in Texas. There are more than 100,000 private security officers in Texas.

“The members of ASSIST are an important component to strengthening our state’s crime fighting and emergency management efforts, and I am honored to accept their endorsement,” said Gov. Perry. “Their role in mobilizing resources and assistance in the face of natural disasters is an incredible example of the effectiveness of public-private partnerships and has been invaluable in the effort to keep Texans out of harm’s way. I will continue to ensure our protectors, both in the public and private sector, have the tools they need to keep our people safe and our communities secure.”
