Texas Stays Tough on Crime

Texas' tough on crime stance is making national and international headlines as the execution date approaches for Jose Medellin, a Mexican national who committed one of our state's most gruesome murders while in our country illegally.

And this week, I had the opportunity to share my perspective on the case with two of the country’s premier conservative talk radio hosts, Roger Hedgecock in San Diego and Mark Davis in Dallas.

Medellin along with five others brutally and viciously raped, stomped, kicked, slashed and strangled two beautiful, young teenage girls in Houston in 1993 following a gang initiation. Medellin, though in this country illegally, had lived in Houston half his life at the time of the crime.

I don't care where you are from; if you commit a despicable crime like this in Texas you should face the ultimate penalty under our laws.

Texas Stays Tough on Crime

I agree with the governor. We are forced to set an example for other visitors. Human life, life itself, is too precious to disregard it as otherwise. If we provide any form of amnesty, we are inviting more crime into our country.
