Rick Perry told Members of the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security today that urgent federal action is required to stem the humanitarian and national security crises unfolding along the Texas-Mexico border. The governor’s testimony highlighted the inability of the federal government to secure the border, and touched on efforts that the state is undertaking to help alleviate the crises, including the $1.3 million per week Texas Department of Public Safety surge announced June 18.
