Statement by Gov. Perry on Death of Ariel Sharon

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement regarding the death of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon:

“Ariel Sharon was a proud and strong defender of the nation of Israel, an uncompromising patriot who faced down the multiple enemies surrounding his young country with selfless determination and unflinching courage. We stand with the Israeli people as they mourn his passing. Anita joins me in sending our prayers and sympathies to Sharon’s friends and family, as well as everyone ever inspired by his courageous example of love of country.”

Gov. Perry Touts Progress in Texas Transportation

SAN ANTONIO – Gov. Rick Perry today touted the important strides Texas has made in bolstering transportation infrastructure in the state since 2001. The governor spoke at the Ninth Annual Texas Transportation Forum, where the Texas Transportation Commission announced the creation of the Governor Rick Perry Leadership in Transportation Award. Beginning next year, the award will be presented annually to recognize leaders who have shown a commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure in Texas.
