The city, where high speed chases involving illegals and drugs was almost an everyday occurrence, has seen a dramatic change in the last two weeks.
NEWSCHANNEL 5 spoke to authorities in La Joya and they tell us they are glad the bad guys are getting the message.
They say they have discovered many hot spots coyotes have been using and are closely patrolling those areas. Plus, a grant from Homeland Security has allowed them to put more men on the streets.
The overall crime rate for the city is declining as well, and residents tell us they're seeing the change.
