Those Who Keep Us Free
As we celebrate our nation's independence, I am mindful of those who have paid the price for our freedom.
Generations of Americans have fought and died to build the freest and most prosperous nation on earth. From the days of the Revolution, to our warriors fighting overseas today, America's best have given their all for a cause greater than self: the liberation of the oppressed, and the freedom of the many.
On this day, may we remember the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines whose courage has kept us free. And may we always remember that freedom not only bestows rights, but moral responsibility. We have a responsibility to this current generation of Americans, and those yet to be born, to safeguard liberty, cultivate economic opportunity and provide for the common good.
